Abstract :
An interleaved winding arrangement is examined in this article for use in MW-class DC-DC converters. The frequency dependences of winding resistance of interleaved and non-interleaved winding arrangements are compared experimentally using a 10-kW test amorphous transformer. It is demonstrated that copper loss of non-interleaved winding significantly increases although the operating frequency is below 1 kHz. Hence, the MW-class amorphous transformer requires an interleaved winding to reduce copper loss.
