  • Abstract
We previously proposed a linear permanent magnet vernier machine (LPMVM) which has the permanent magnets on the primary side with armature winding and the secondary side without armature winding. In that machine, even only the permanent magnets on the primary side generate a thrust force. That idea has brought a novel topology of linear PM machines which doesn´t need any magnets on the secondary side. Other researchers have also proposed similar topologies. The topology will offer an extremely low cost linear machine system for long distance moving applications compared with conventional linear PM and induction machines.
