Abstract :
The organizing committee of the 36th Great Lakes Biomedical Conference (GLBC), running May 14-15, 2015, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is excited to present this meeting in conjunction with the 2015 IEEE-USA Annual Meeting. Each year, a different central theme of the GLBC addresses current innovations in biomedical engineering and healthcare technology. The theme of the 36th GLBC is Biomedical Applications of Additive Manufacturing. Invited speakers for plenary sessions will present cutting edge research and technologies ranging from 3-D bioprinting of tissues and organs to the use of additive manufacturing to inform patient-specific surgical interventions. In addition, podium presenters will discuss their work covering all areas of biomedical engineering submitted for this publication of peer-reviewed papers. The conference will also feature a student poster competition, tours of additive manufacturing facilities of nearby universities, and endless networking opportunities with engineers from around the country participating in the IEEE-USA Annual Meeting events. We hope attendees have an enlightening and productive meeting!
