Abstract
This paper deals with a novel two layer control strategy. The higher operational control layer aims at optimizing some relevant production performance functions (such as economical profit or production cost) and produce optimal set points for the lower control loops. Whilst the lower layer make the controlled variables track these set points so that the process can operate as close as possible to its economically optimal state. After the setting values is determined and the controller is designed for each closed loop in the ideal situation, a real-time set-point adjuster is designed to compensate the disturbances with various causes. Finally, a simulation is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
