Abstract
Eco-efficiency is an important instrument for sustainability analysis. In this paper, we analyze the eco-efficiency by data envelopment analysis (DEA) method. The models for evaluating the resource efficiency, environmental efficiency and comprehensive eco-efficiency are given. The properties among them are discussed. Then, we use a real data set of Wuhan from 1991 to 2012 to illustrate the models and properties. The results indicate that the year 2012 in Wuhan is resource effective, environmental effective and eco-effective. Moreover, the year is eco-effective if the year is resource effective or environmental effective, and the year is resource invalid and environmental invalid if the year is eco-ineffective. The mean of resource efficiency is greater than that of environmental efficiency. And for resource efficiency and environmental efficiency, the average of technical efficiency is much bigger than that of scale efficiency.
