  • Abstract
The insulating oil is used in electricity as a medium for cooling and dielectric in transformers, as a dielectric and for cooling and extinguishing the arcs in high voltage switches, etc. The operating conditions of the electrical equipments affects properties of the insulating oil causing their aging. Generally, it is well known that thermal and electrical stresses have a strong influence on the degradation of insulations. But the effect of the electric field on the oxidation phenomenon is not yet well analyzed, especially to apparatus for test the oxidation stability. Some studies on the influence of the electric field on the oxidation stability of insulating oil are presented below.
