Abstract
Evaluation of dependability of electric supply is left to the skill and expertise of single engineers. Power systems schematics of health care facilities, airports, stadia, skyscrapers, main roads tunnels, too frequently, are not designed on the basis of concepts available in industrial context, since the ´60thies. The author has found strong resistance in the acceptance of developed design criteria, as well as the acknowledgements of the existence of a philosophy in topology studies and a dependability of components evaluations. Security criteria have not common references: power system design is considered, in such contexts, merely as detail, not so important. Strategic errors are deeply rooted in everyday praxis. Standardization of power systems schematics could help saving the culture of strategic items, spreading good practice in the context of lower technical level, and establishing a tool to certificate the dependability and security of plants on the basis of shared criteria. A standardization philosophy is proposed.
