Abstract :
An average model for a three phase controlled rectifier is presented that is based on state-space averaging techniques. The modeling method uses the duty-ratio constraint concept to generate an average model that represents the rectifier electrical behavior for both continuous and discontinuous current operating modes. The model overcomes the limitation of other average rectifier models that reproduce the classic output voltage equation that are only valid for continuous conduction operation. Results of a computer simulation between a switching model and the average model are presented verifying that the model provides accurate results for both transient and steady-state conditions.
