Abstract :
This article deals with the Synchronous Optical NETwork (SONET) and Resilient Packet Ring (RPR). The two protocols used the same layer (OSI Model) and often are used separately. In our paper, we will demonstrate that SONET and RPR could be integrated together; we will explain and detail the use of SONET over RPR (SONEToRPR) with a simulation that shows the possibility to create a New Large Layer 2 Network and to point the benefits of it with a better performance.
