  • Abstract
This paper is a companion to a previous paper on this topic. There were a great number of difficulties that had to be overcome before Clerk Maxwell´s electromagnetic theory, first published in 1865, would be accepted by the general scientific community in 1888. This paper discusses several events that lead up to, but are peripheral to the primary development and acceptance of Maxwell´s equations. Topics included are the influence of the Battle of Trafalgar on Maxwell´s work, one of his childhood experiences, and a few details of the final act for the key players.
