  • Abstract
    This paper proposes a new miniaturized half-mode waveguide transmission line named the capacitively-loaded half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (CLHMSIW). The principle of the design is studied, along with the extraction of the simulated complex propagation constant. The design is compared to the half-mode substrate integrated waveguide (HMSIW), where it is shown that miniaturizations are possible of up to 45% compared to HMSIW. The radiation losses near cutoff are also shown to be decreased compared to the HMSIW. An experimental realization is presented, where good agreement between simulation and measurement is shown.
