  • Abstract
A scalable serially fed array using a quasi-Yagi antenna as a part of the negative group delay circuit to compensate for the beam squint is presented. Each unit cell consists of a quasi-Yagi antenna, a coupled line coupler, an amplifier and a delay line. Most of the power is delivered to the antenna while the amplifier boosts the signal to the same level as the input signal before it is injected to the next unit cell. An analysis is performed to calculate the required load for the coupler, the coupling factor and the antenna impedance. The unit cell is optimized for equal amplitude and phase over 2-2.1 GHz bandwidth. The fabricated array has only 2° beam squint corresponding to 75% beam squint reduction as compared to a conventional array without negative group delay circuits.
