Abstract :
The longitudinal wave which passes through cancellous bone separates into the fast wave (mainly propagates along trabecular) and slow wave (mainly propagates in bone marrow). This is called two wave phenomenon. However, longitudinal waves passing through the in vivo bone contain circumferential wave which propagates along outer cortical layer. This circumferential wave may influence the two wave phenomenon. We have then experimentally investigated wave propagation in human radius model, and found that the effect of circumferential wave on the two wave phenomenon was little. It means that the effect of circumferential wave on the two wave phenomenon seems small during in vivo experiments.
