Abstract :
Microalgae is a viable source of renewable energy, but techno-economic improvements will optimize and control to make algae production more economically viable. In preparation for on-line control, this work explores the development of a growth model from first principles. It includes natural vagaries that affect the algae growth, making it a stochastic model. Model based optimization is done to optimize control policy and the pond design.
