Abstract
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a non-invasive technique used for oncology treatment through tumor ablation. When an impedance mismatch is present between the ultrasound transducer and the excitation device, a reflected wave is produced which can damage the excitation device. To avoid this possible damage is important to know the forward and reflected power of ultrasound transducers. The purpose of this work is to develop a power meter which can measure the forward and reflected power of ultrasound transducers and calculate the Standing Wave Ratio with the finality to avoid damage at the excitation device.
