Abstract :
In this paper, the finite edge element method (FEEM) is introduced for electromagnetic analysis of a new high-speed air isolated connector in frequency domain. The general procedure of transmission characteristic S parameters obtained from FEEM is presented from vector wave equations. We employ the boundary conditions of the first kind (Dirichlet), the third kind and the absorbing boundary conditions (ABC) for analysis. A new electromagnetic model coplanar wave-guide (CPW) without substrate is configured and calculated. The S parameters, including the reflection and transmission coefficients, are evaluated and the desired circuit parameters, C, L, are computed from network theory. These parameters are directly applicable in SPICE software packages. The obtained results S parameters are validated well through comparison with finite integral time domain (FITD) method and measurement results.
