Abstract :
In this paper, we present an extension of NS-3 for power save mode in IEEE 802.11. Currently Version 3.21 of NS-3 is not supported for IEEE 802.11 power save mode. To the best of our knowledge, no one implements the power save mode in NS-3 and shares to public. Our extension supports for unicasting and broadcasting. To prove the proposed extension, several methods have been used to validate. For examples, Wireshark application has been used to validate extended frame formats, basic mathematical model is utilized to validate upper bound throughput. In addition, we have also used programming experience to validate the proposed extension. The validation methods have shown that the simulator conforms to power save mode recommendation in IEEE 802.11 standard.
