Abstract :
The environmental disaster warning system for the Itajaí Valley consists of a telemetric network with rain gauges measure and level. In addition, a smaller network of instruments in the urban area of the city of Blumenau ensures the monitoring of risk areas for landslides. The importance of the existence of this system based on the Regional University of Blumenau (FURB) lies in the fact that the population of about 1 million inhabitants depend on real-time information for its decision-making regarding the possible areas to be flooded in a probable event hydro meteorological. This system needs to evolve always following the technological innovations and using the latest computational tools, adequate and versatile as possible. Computer infrastructure (hardware) of the latest generation and mathematical models associated with computer applications (software) allow you to keep updated CEOPS and always ready to trigger alerts. Currently, there are developed computer models applied to flood spots in major cities. These new models feature very friendly user interface and is easy to use and understand. This work shows some of the tasks that are performed in CEOPS, its advances and its limitations.
