Abstract :
The increasing number of automobiles being used not only causes serious traffic jams, but also demands more and more parking spaces. However, automobiles in such parking spaces remain parked wastefully in the daytime. In view of such a wasteful way of using automobiles, there has been a demand for a system which allows users to rent automobiles only when necessary. Vehicle sharing systems are the innovative solutions to enter into sustainable mobility. Though the electric vehicles are more expensive than the present automobiles, they are less harmful in terms of air pollution and noise than automobiles which run on fossil fuels such as gasoline and are the best platform for urban locomotion. This paper presents the platform for vehicle sharing developed in Green Move project. The goal of Green Move is to create innovative vehicle sharing system, based on electric vehicles that can easily be accessed by users. Green Move project focuses on the Green Move vehicle on-board units, for which a purposeful middleware is being developed. The current drift in automotive is to improve accessibility through outside world via Smart phone or Tablet. This increases the reliability on communicating with vehicle for defining destination, speed, path, etc.
