  • Abstract
In this paper the effect of spatial diversity in the vertical direction on V2V communications is evaluated for three different platooning scenarios. Using active ETSI ITS-G5 radios RSSI is monitored for multi links between four trucks. Three trucks drive in a consistent platooning formation and a fourth is used for creating scenarios of meeting, joining or leaving a Platoon. Conclusions are drawn about which scenarios can benefit from vertical spatial diversity and which cannot.
