Abstract :
A directional shorted patch antenna designed for the application of WiFi router with Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) technology is proposed in this paper. By feeding the antenna with vertical probes and proper matching networks, this antenna can be operated in either dual linear or circular polarization modes. When operating at dual polarization mode, the impedance bandwidth is around 6% (S11<;-15dB) for both input ports and the isolation is better than -30dB across the 5.8GHz ISM band. As for the circular polarization mode, the impedance (S11<;-15) and 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth are 12.9% and 9.6% respectively. Symmetric radiation patterns are obtained in horizontal and vertical planes for both modes.
