Abstract
Multipactor, known as secondary electron resonant effect, is a high power RF breakdown phenomenon occurring in vacuum or near vacuum. A novel method for detecting multipactor in pulse mode is presented in this paper. This novel detecting method is implemented by adding an assistant carrier to create man-made intermodulation between the assistant carrier and modulation pulse in the same system. Theory analysis using power series with double carriers and noise change theory shows that it can cause intermodulation signals and make them change to detect sensitively and reliable. Depending on intermodulation brought by nonlinear of multipactor, the method works well. At the same time, testing experimental result is according with theory analysis very well, and it can get effectively with the other methods.
