Abstract
In this paper, we propose a novel depth map coding scheme based on adaptive block compressive sensing. Different from the traditional two-dimensional image compression, edge information is more significant for the reconstruction of a depth map. Therefore, in view of the object boundaries characteristics of a depth map, we first divide the whole depth image into blocks with different sizes. Then according to the size of block, an adaptive sampling rate can be allocated to each block, which can obtain better compression performance. The experimental results have shown that the proposed scheme outperforms the uniform sampling scheme.
