Abstract
This paper targets the computation and analysis of time dispersion characteristics and power delay profile of visible light communication (VLC) channel for an indoor diffused environment. A generalized conventional ray tracing model has been adapted through parametrization of the wavelength dependence of white LED characteristics as well as the spectral reflectance of selected indoor reflectors. The power delay profile and the rms delay spread for the VLC system have been evaluated. Two different transmitter topologies have been proposed to compare the time dispersion characteristics of the VLC system. It has been demonstrated by simulation results that the axis-excited configuration exhibits lesser rms delay spread as compared to the corner-excited configuration and improves the system data rate by more than 5 Mbps.
