Abstract :
Wireless communication is known as a very promising technology for future power distribution networks. However, many questions remain unanswered concerning its performance taking into consideration the DSO requirements. A joint research project between the Grenoble Institute of Technology (Grenoble-INP) and Orange Labs aims at testing the performance of 4G-LTE (Long Term Evolution) technologies applied to advanced functions in power distribution networks. Tests are carried out after creating an interface between the electrical test platform at G2ELAB and the 4G-LTE platform at Orange Labs, based on Com4Innov network. Many use-cases are presented and the main results analysed in order to evaluate the suitability of 4G-LTE technologies for power distribution networks, from a technical point of view.
