Abstract
The reserve grid is a redundant MV grid, which serves as an emergency power system (EPS). It is designed to compensate interruptions of the MV grid or substations by offering an independent connection to an additional substation. The challenge is to find the optimal topology regarding costs and reliability. The locations of the customers and the substation have to be considered in the planning of the grid. Here, various optimization methods, which solve the problem are compared. Furthermore, the effects of the reliability stated as posteriori and a priori reliability on the optimal topology are investigated. The results show that all investigated methods can find the optimal solution of the stated problem and a grid without N-1 security can achieve the reliability required.
