Abstract :
Transmission system planning aims to determine a resilient and cost effective expansion plan. But finding an optimal plan is a tough combinatorial challenge in large networks. In this paper, an Automated Network Planning Process (ANEPP) is introduced. Two different heuristic approaches to select additional network branches are implemented in the ANEPP: The Local Search (LS) and the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO). The performance of both approaches to create an expansion plan for a 2050 scenario starting from a year 2022 model of the Central European Transmission System is assessed.
