Abstract
Present in most electrical systems, high voltage circuit breakers have the function of extinguishing the electric arc originated from the disruption of rated and short-circuit currents of power apparatus, preventing damage to other electrical system components. The life of a circuit breaker can be extended by adopting the correct maintenance planning, avoiding early or late interventions. There are several methodologies for maintenance planning, consolidated and adapted to the needs of electric utilities. This paper describes a knowledge-based system which applies fuzzy logic to compare the results of tests with the reference values established in manuals, standards, or provided by experts, returning the date suggested for the next maintenance.
