Abstract
Principle of measuring space charge distributions in insulating materials through Pressure Wave Propagation (PWP) method is discussed in this paper. The principle is based on perturbation of electric charge distribution in the insulator by mechanical pressure which ultimately affects the resulting current through external circuit. The relationship between applied pressure, space charge distribution and output current signal is described. This paper presents the simulation of the system to obtain different pressure waves under different excitation conditions. For those pressure waves, the final output current is also calculated.
