Variable structure system control for automatic generation control scheme in deregulated environment

In this paper avariable structure system (VSS) control scheme for multiarea deregulated automatic generation control (AGC) has been developed. The optimal control design requires complete knowledge of the system dynamics, thus realization of such a controller is difficult. VSS is a simple approach to be implementation. VSS controlscheme improves the transient response and keeps zeroerror at steady state of the system. The proposed VSS control scheme has been implemented onderegulated multiarea power system AGC scheme. The simulation results and performance analysis are presented to justify the robustness & effectiveness of control scheme. The comparative performance analysis of variable structure scheme and conventional controlis also presented.
