Abstract :
In wireless mesh networks, multicast protocols are faced with the challenge of packet delivery in the presence of topology changes, bandwidth constraints. We propose a Neighbor Knowledge-Based Multicast (NKBM) scheme for dense wireless mesh network. In our scheme, the multicast receivers maintain one hop neighbor knowledge including node density, the ratio and the number of one hop uncovered neighbors, upon which the packet forwarding probability and the forwarding delay are changed adaptively. The proposed protocol is compared with ODMRP, NCast, flooding with regard to packet delivery ratio, delay, communication overhead. The simulation studies show NKBM has a superior performance.
