Abstract :
Hybrid broadcast broadband TV (HbbTV) is a standard for hybrid TV that originated in Germany/France with the support of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU). It is now emerging as the most popular standard for seamless integration of the broadcast and broadband worlds. HbbTV services are already popular in Germany and France, and their popularity is growing in other countries as well. There is a bevy of HbbTV-capable receivers in the market from leading manufacturers of consumer electronics (CE). This article discusses the HbbTV standard and its applications from a technical perspective.
