Abstract
This letter proposed a novel miniaturization technique for surface-wave holographic antenna, which determines the layout of the antenna by simply cutting out the region where the scattering is inefficient from the original interference pattern. Then, the equivalent method of physical truncation and perfect magnetic conductor truncation is presented and theoretically analyzed to increase the gain and eliminate the zeroth-order. For the design example radiated at 30° off the normal, it is shown that the area of the miniaturized is 82.4% smaller and the gain is 3.61 dB in measurement higher than that of the original antenna, respectively.
