Abstract :
This is the second of a two-part paper analyzing fundamental properties of the finite-gap generator when used as a feed in Hallén´s and Pocklington´s equations. Here, we examine more carefully the origin and nature of oscillations occurring with the approximate kernel and point out certain analogies to numerical phenomena within the method of auxiliary sources (MAS) and to physical phenomena such as superdirectivity and surface waves. We further provide a physical interpretation of the effective-current method (pertinent also to the delta-function generator) that widens the applicability of the method and explains a number of the theoretical findings in Part I.
