Abstract
The biggest single recent change in enterprise storage has been the growth in use of flash memory both on its own and in solid state drives (SSDs), but it has not always delivered fully on its promise. This is partly due to a mistaken belief that SSDs are inevitably more reliable than HDDs (see p62), but storage vendors are also culpable through over-hyping the products and failing to convey accurately how and where they should be deployed
