Abstract
This paper presents a theoretical investigation on the radiation of an infinite, one-dimensional antenna array, which is phased to radiate electromagnetic fields focused in the near zone of the array aperture. In particular, the wave phenomena in each of the Floquet modes, obtained by applying the Poisson sum formula to the array excitations, are investigated. The analysis reduces to the case of a conventional phased antenna array when the radiation is focused in the far zone, and exhibits consistent phenomena. Theoretical investigations as well as numerical illustrations are presented.
