Abstract
This letter presents the development of a X/Ku-band (8-18 GHz) radial waveguide combiner for solid state power amplifiers. The proposed radial combiner utilizes a novel waveguide to coaxial transition which allows for ultra-wideband performance. Simulation results show a 1 dB insertion loss bandwidth of 9.5 GHz for this proposed combiner. Finally, both computer numerical control (CNC) machining and direct metal laser sintering (DMLS) stereo-lithographical processes are investigated as potential fabrication methods.
