Abstract
A numerical demonstration is presented of the reduction of both the chirp-induced dispersion penalty and the extinction ratio penalty in directly modulated metro-wavelength-division multiplexed transmission systems by a spectral filtering method. The pre-filtering method suppresses nonlinear effects and gives better performance
