Abstract
An idealized dynamic model for magnetization reversal of a magnetic recording particle is solved numerically for damped oscillating fields over a range of frequencies. The adjustable parameters in the model are set by matching the model response to measurements obtained from published data. For the particular media studied, the results indicate that the dynamic switching threshold is not significantly lower than the quasi-static threshold and that dynamic upset by box IEMP (interior electromagnetic pulse) fields is unlikely
