Abstract :
We study several new techniques for reducing polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) induced system outage probabilities for wavelength-division-multiplexed systems. In all cases, we provide equalization of the channel(s) with the worst performance. Realizations based on shared single channel compensators are discussed.
