Abstract :
A generalized clustered look-ahead transformation procedure is presented. Like the original clustered look-ahead transformation, the generalized version is useful for converting IIR digital filter transfer functions into pipelined forms. It is, however, better able to yield stable pipelined IIR filters. It is shown that this improvement is obtained at the expense of a very modest increase in system complexity and a small decrease in processing speed. Design examples are given and high-speed hardware implementations are discussed in detail
