Abstract :
Under the aegis of the Engineering Education and Human Resources Task Force of the Edison Electric Institute a questionnaire was circulated to investor-owned utilities throughout the nation. The essential aims of the questionnaire were to seek answers to and provide background information on questions relating to BSEE curricula followed by engineers employed within the electric-utility industry for about five years. Responses from approximately 450 engineers working within the electric utility industry were received. The thirteen multipart questions which constituted the questionnaire provide background information, against which the suggested curriculum changes deemed most desirable by respondents can be examined. There is clear indication of course-areas which need to be developed if they are to meet the needs of electric-utility based engineers.
