Abstract
Tangential soft X-ray images (1-10 keV) are measured with a charge coupled device camera in the large helical device (LHD). The shape of the magnetic flux surface is obtained by choosing the magnetic flux surface from databases, which is consistent with the measured two-dimensional profile. The images are also used to analyze the equilibrium in the LHD, in particular the Shafranov shift of the plasma with an accuracy of less than 10 mm
