Abstract :
The Bureau of Reclamation has developed new equipment and procedures for testing mechanical-hydraulic governors for hydroelectric generators. The test equipment generates a three-phase voltage that will drive the governor ballhead motor at variable speed. Most traditional governor tests can be completed with the generating unit unwatered using this equipment. In addition, frequency response testing and other detailed analytical tests can be performed to validate governor models using this equipment
