Abstract
The influence of stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) on wavelength conversion based on fiber four-wave mixing is described. Bit error rate measurements show the sensitivity for converted light is degraded due to SBS. Based on the result, the optimum fiber length is discussed and conversion with an efficiency of larger than -20 dB over a span of 4.5 THz is demonstrated.<>
