Abstract
Most inventions that are relevant to practical applications in our society are recognized from the start, with a few exceptions. The invention and development of radar was one of the notable exceptions, which is all the more remarkable considering the newer and more widespread applications of this technology in many areas, including as an anti-collision device in the automobile. And yet, incredibly, the cutting-edge application of this technology was demonstrated more than 100 years ago. Christian Hulsmeyer, from Germany, was responsible for this achievement.
