Abstract
We present a new modeling procedure for magnetic components based on finite-element analysis (FEA). The method can be applied to RM cores. The main advantage of this procedure is that it allows the actual nonlinear component response to be obtained by taking into account the core saturation effect from only a 2-D simulation, and thus, the simulation time is reduced drastically in relation to a 3-D simulation. Our study was carried out for a FERROXCUBE soft ferrite that is used in power electronics. We provide the simulated results here and compare them with measured data.
