Abstract :
A novel method for performing greedy decompositions using generalised bit-planes is proposed. It provides an elegant solution to the tradeoff between quantisation of coefficients and number of passes in the matching pursuits algorithm. In addition, when replacing the matching pursuits algorithm in video coding, it provides a significant performance improvement
