Abstract
The authors describe a simple low temperature method for fabricating a low-loss singlemode integrated optical directional coupler in a photosensitive, hybrid, organically modified sol-gel silica glass. The fabrication process is appealing for its simplicity, entailing few steps and using elementary photodefinition to give robust, mechanically rigid devices
