Abstract
In the Letter, generation of short pulses using cascaded magnetostatic soliton waveguides is demonstrated experimentally. Two yttrium iron garnet (YIG) film delay lines are cascaded through high-gain GaAs amplifiers and magnetised to support a magnetostatic forward volume wave (MSFVW) soliton. The variation of the power carried by the output soliton with input power shows three distinct linear, nonlinear and saturation regions. In the nonlinear regime a compressed pulse of ~12 ns is achieved for a 3 dB input pulsewidth of ~65 ns and input power 100 mW in the S band
